Fashionable Summer Jewelry

When we think of summer, the first words which come to our minds are relaxation, fun and freshness. It’s an explosion of joy and vitality, a time when we enjoy life to the fullest and leave behind all worries. We abandon ourselves to a great feeling and adventure and freedom as we are fully aware of how precious these moments are and how much light they bring in our lives.

It’s common knowledge that we tend to express our personality and emotional states through the clothes we wear. We choose dark colors when we feel down or depressed and bright one when we wish let people know that something good is happening in our lives and that makes us happy. And, since summer is such a vivid, optimistic and carefree time, our clothing for the season should reflect all that.

Summer wardrobes are usually as light and bright as possible and when it comes to clothes, designers’ imagination knows no limits. Dresses, suits, jackets, T-shirts for all occasions and even boots are available in a huge range of colors and patterns, and are compulsory items in every lady’s wardrobe. But, as we know, every outfit we choose, either formal or casual, is not complete unless we add on the right jewelry and accessories.

Surviving an Economic Downturn – Five Tips For Small Business in the Fashion and Retail Industry

Google and YouTube, the darlings of Wall Street, are lowering their revenue expectations this year according to the WSJ. When multi-billion dollar powerhouses start kvetching about the economy, wonderment at your own business’ slowdown feels validated.

The fashion industry as a whole is one of the first to feel the effect of an economic slowdown. Disposable income diminishes as necessities like food and fuel become more expensive. Early 2007 industry analysts like Markos Kaminis were anticipating a slow down in the industry, even though most major retailers were in deep denial. First quarter of 2007 Companies like Coach and Blue Nile were touting the strength of their sales, translating into increases in their stock prices. Fast forward to early 2008 and the picture has changed dramatically for both companies. First quarter of this year found both Coach (COH) and Blue Nile’s (NILE) stock down by half of their last year highs.

What do the woes of billion dollar companies have to do with your family owned boutique or independent clothing line? They feel economic downturns later than small businesses, and they have far more resources to stay afloat. However, many small business owners don’t realize (or are too modest to consider) that they too can apply within their own business many of the same tactics that the “big boys” use to mitigate losses and avoid bankruptcy.

1. Get lean and mean
Scrutinize your non-essential and convenience services that can be dumped, or done in a more cost effective way. Employees used to that water delivery? Time for them to embrace tap. Have you looked at your recent cellphone bills? Can you live with a smaller plan and still avoid overage charges? Have you compared your credit card merchant vendor with their competition lately? Using a shredding service? Convenient, but would an Office Depot shredder suffice? Can you refine your workforce to fewer employee hours without affecting service?

Jewelry, Fashion and Rings – We Love and Cherish Them Or Just Show Them Off

Jewelry has a very long and diverse history going back as far as history takes us. Every culture has embraced the use of jewelry for adornment in some form or other. The history of wearing rings goes back a long time also. We think of great rulers who used their signet rings to imprint a wax seal to put their authority on documents.

Today we love rings as much as they were ever loved. In western cultures they can be worn by male or female of any age, on any finger, thumb or toe. Rings are often made out of precious metals, like gold and sterling silver. Many popular styles of rings are made out of stainless steel or other base metals, wood, bone or shells. Rings speak of love and friendship or are worn just for beauty and fashion.

Rings are decorated by etching, using contrasting metals, plating, adding precious and semi-precious gems, pearls, enamel or oxidised finishes. The list of decoration is as endless as the many shapes and sizes of rings.
